2.
the striking of one solid object with or against another with some degree of force.”the clattering percussion of objects striking the walls and the shutters”

What would music be without drums, beats, tweets & of course cowbells?
I’ve had the opportunity to perform a few times as a Dj with a live percussionist.
There’s something about taking a great song and then adding a layer of live performance on top of it… in the moment… spontaneously.

One of my favorite times was at Casa Punta de Vista in Manuel Antonio with my friend and artist Avelino. He and a Brazilian friend Ze slapped, whistled, bongoed and chanted along side me over songs by Chicane, ATB, Thievery Corporation & Late Night Alumni. I remember the bride saying “I can’t believe this is my wedding!!”

Here in my hometown of Tamarindo, there is a great scene at El Garito Bar on Tuesday night where some of the local talent get together to perform electro-percussion. Dj Sostoa and/or Dj Xavier play some amazing sets along side Roy Rodrigo. The intensity coming out of Roy’s beats & slaps along side some incredible deep house takes you on a slippery mind slide into perhaps a large pool of delicious cocktails. If you like dancing this is it.

Also enjoy this video of Roy Rodrigo playing with DJ Xavier.
