Music is magic to me. I can’t imagine a world without music. I’ve been listening to music since I can remember.
The 80’s were hilarious/fun and also the beginning of new sounds. One of my favorite groups was Kraftwerk followed by Depeche Mode, The Cure, Culture Club, David Bowie, The Police, Soft Cell and so many more. I started going to parties during that time and I always found myself taking over the Stereo system, trying to seamlessly play tunes from the double cassette deck.
My passion for music continued on through the nineties. Never stopping the endless pursuit of new sounds & rhythms. Electronic dance music really kicked in during that decade as well as the whole rave scene. I found myself dancing at clubs and parties 5 nights a week…so much fun. Great music kept popping up: Groove Armada, Moby and Dj’s like Paul Van Dyk, John Digweed were huge. There was also a giant leap into hip-hop and alternative bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers just to name a few.
With the onset of technology in the early 2000’s and the sharing of music…the world for music lovers like myself became a giant playground. Having access to the endless library of internet changed everything. This is when I started to Dj professionally. It wasn’t exactly my plan to Dj weddings but after a while I found it to be one of the more interesting and challenging forms of Dj’ing. Having to please multi-generations, multi-ethnicities & multi-genres over a 4 or 5 hr period is complicated yet gratifying. It’s cool to be able move around through decades of music and watch a whole group of people party together.
